*popsicle sticks
*glue
*10 small wooden cubes
*balsa wood
*racecars, trucks, or other small objects
*engineering notebook and pencil
Trusses add support to a bridge, and they look cool, too. Give them a try and see how they work.
1Lay four popsicle sticks flat in a square and glue each corner where two sticks meet.
2Glue one wooden cube on top of each corner.
3Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make another square. Each square should have four cubes on it.
4Take one square and glue three more sticks to it to make a rectangle. It should have two squares attached together to make one rectangle with seven sticks, like the diagram. Glue a stick diagonally through each square.
